BEYOND PLAYTIME: How Movement Boosts Children’s Learning and Health

Is your child getting enough movement in their day to support their growth and development? At Power Tots, we offer engaging kids gymnastics classes for ages 12 months to 12 years, setting kids up for success and a lifetime of healthy habits. But why? We believe that beyond just playtime, physical activity plays a crucial role in boosting children's learning and overall health.


According to a recent study done by Harvard, “Young kids should get at least three hours each day of total physical activity to enhance their growth and development.” When children engage in movement, their brains receive more oxygen, which helps improve concentration and memory. This means that kids who participate in regular physical activities often perform better academically. Simple activities like running, dancing, or even yoga can help stimulate brain development and foster a love for learning.


Movement is also a fantastic way for children to develop social skills and emotional well-being. Engaging in group activities, such as gymnastics or dance classes, teaches kids about teamwork, cooperation, and communication. It can help them make friends and develop a sense of belonging.


Additionally, physical activity is known to reduce stress and anxiety, promoting better mental health.
